Ok I asked an offsite tech support at EV1 (not ev1's people) and the tech wasn't sure he had to check and made me uneasy...so here it is I am using ensim pro and want to set up name servers do I use the servers main ip as NS1.mydomain.com or do I use other ip's that I have?

I did this for several years.
You can use your server IP for one and a second IP for the ns2. However, in the past they have accepted the rationale of 2 name servers to justify two IPs beyond the server's, for a total of 3.

hey thanks I did use the main and all was well, when I went to login as root and I had been hacked within a hr after upgrade. so EV1 was cool enough to reload img, seeing how they couldn't get root either...
That has to be a record 38 hrs. lol the nerve of some folks :wiggum:

36 hours .. That's rather surprising considering all they would've had to do is catch the boot loader at console and add init=/bin/bash alongside a few other arguments to reset the root password. Takes about 10 minutes maximum.

Maybe your server was at the end of the pool and it took 35:50 hours to walk to it? :)

Cow,
he may have meant 38 hours from new server to being hacked. Maybe not. We'll have to let him tell it.

I hear that, I think that it had been breatched prior to getting the box it showed 9 days, they had to reset the pw whithin the first hr or so when I recived it. then the root was changed, again hmm chkroot showed nothing so last time they justed reloaded fresh image for me. I felt why risk this again there may be a back door or something and they thought the same.
So they relaoded the box. I changed server host name and set up name server and all is good. I also want to add the support on days there was a great as ever.
