Anyone ever had issues setting their nameservers on a .de domain on enom, I get an error saying unable to delete nameservers and enom responded by saying they have reported it to their dev team, this is 1 week ago and they are no longer replying to my messages, I am considering going to ICANN/Internic to get the domain out of there.
What do you guys think?

Well, I don't think I've ever tried to delete nameservers (not sure I see a need to). If you can modifiy them, and/or set up new ones, what is the need to delete the current ones? (As opposed to just not use them?)

I am modifying, thats the error that throws up, I expect its the way enom works, although I think 3 are deleted since enom assigns 5 nameservers and we replacing with 2. So the process would be to delete 5 nameservers and add 2 new ones.
When I googled others have had the same issue, but they either didnt get resolved or they didnt say.

Although I use Enom (for all my domains), I have had mixed results with support from them. Sometimes I would get a response to emails, other times I wouldn't (even if I resent), and likewise on the phone. It wasn't one of the things I would boast about, and if they do, they shouldn't (at least in the past, but things may be the same).
Others have said that they haven't had problems and support has been fine though, so I guess I was asking the wrong questions, heh.

ok thanks for your replies I have decided to do the following.
Stop reselling .de domains for now
Get the domain to a different registrar
Maybe Resell elsewhere

.de has special requirements.
Before you can change the name servers listed for a domain it must exist on the new name servers and be responding for them.
This means that you can't register a domain nad set it up on the name servers at the same time.
The procedure is you register it and add it to the name servers, it partially fails, you then send the request back to DENIC for the name servers to be recognised.
Because our DNS only updates once an hour it makes it even worse.
Plus they will reject any name server changes where the name servers are on the same netblock. This means that most reseller type accounts cannot host .de domains. You need truly seperate name servers.
I am guessing that Enom are getting some sort of failure message and not passing the full detail of that to you.
We have lots of problems with .de caused by this, but at least its not as bad as .it!

GordanH when the domain was first registered we got caught out by the same netblock restriction, but now the domain is on seperate /24 blocks for the 2 nameservers and both nameservers are up for queries for the domain we have checked double checked and triple checked and are meeting the .de requirements. However thanks I have fired of an email to DENIC to ask them to verify the nameservers are valid.

OK
As far as I know they do not have any other restrictions like rdns or special soa formats like .ie and .it so as long as they are on different netblocks you should be OK.
It is amazing the number of our customers who get told by their hosts that its our fault the name servers are not being accepted , when they are on sequential ip's.

Well enom have now got back to us saying the SOA refreah was out of range so I put it in range, of course we still get the same error, but I did a search and found this.
http://1steuro.us/FAQ.html#germanns so there is SOA requirements however we fit all of it, the registrant has a German Address, the nameservers are in different CLASS A networks and authoritive for the domain , I will wait and see if enom might be caching old values and try again a few hours leter but I think the owner has already started transfer proceedings, I fear enom will try to block it because the domain is newly registered.

OK.
I think those SOA requirements are wide enough that any normal setting would be within it.
I hope you manage to get this fixed.
We use Tucows for .de and they give us access to the raw emails from DENIC so we can see what the status is.

DENIC got back to me and reported 1 error fatal that we had 3 nameservers specified in the nameservers and only adding the 2, so I removed the 3rd from the nameservers. But you guessed it same error on enom.
Now I have sent enom a last chance ticket confirming I am aware of the TLD restrictions that we cannot transfer domain right after registration but I will persue it if they cannot get this resolved within 48 hours.
*****Error modifying name servers: Failed to delete nameservers at registry***** is the exact error
