The .eu registry is telling accredited registrars that they must not supply via resellers.
See this page:
http://www.eurid.eu/news/archive/reselingdomains
If this position holds you will not be able to resell .eu domains and companies like 123-reg.co.uk who have been taking preorders (withthe aim of running them trhough the Tucows system at sunrise) will not be able to fulfill those obligations unless they get accreditation.
It also means that if you resell domains for Enom or OpenSRS or any other registrar you will not be able to resell .eu.
The disadvantage for the registry is that their domains will not be as widely available and the extension may not take off in popularity.
:rant::rant::rant:
This is fairly typical of anything connected with the EU.
I can remember working on a European funded project in Mozambique and part of the contract was that we were only to use equipment manufactured by European companies.
Try buying a truly European laptop :rant:
We ended up with badge engineered ones which had benn "assembled" in London and were truly awful, when what we wanted were HP or Toshiba.
The HP was made in Europe but HP is of course an American company. :banghead:
