For registering a domain name that will be used as a nameserver domain there are certains things I should know (i think), which I do not know (yet) .. One thing is I noticed namecheap offers the oppertunity to add the domain as "nameserver" enabling me to add "ns/dns"+"number"+"name" to their records and link it to an IP.. is that all it takes (assuming I will get 2 IP's for my nameservers)? Or is there something I should know, and if there is, is there a registrar that can help me do it in their interface ?

Reason I ask is that for a reseller account I am getting I get 2 IP's for my private nameservers and what I understood I need to link the domains to the IP itself.. so I figured I'd better ask what's there to know prior of registering a domain for that purpose...

btw I love the smileys :xmasmiley

Your registrar will have a place to "Create Name Server" or "Create Host" or something similar. It is not the same as "Update DNS Records."

When you find the right place, it should be something like []a box to put NS1 (or whatever you're going to call it) next to your domain name (already there) and then four boxes to put your IP in (the IP that your host assigned to you).

NS1.Your_Domain.com
123.45.678.91

NS2.Your_Domain.com
123.45.678.92

Once you create your name servers, then you will be able to update your DNS records to point to NS1.Your_Domain.com and NS2.Your_Domain.com

Yep, I figured this out seconds ago aswell ;)
Namecheap is no option (vBScript error on their webpage), so I chose registerfly.com . .which seems to be able to do the trick . .Am I right to say I can change the namservers of my maindomain.com to ns1/ns2.maindomain.com as soon as they work?

Heck. You can change them 'before' they work.

Of course, your domain wouldn't work then. :baghead:

Yeah well, will do it like this:
- wait for the IP's
- then create the nameservers
- then change my own
Seems easiest, + I need to verifiy (although i think it will) that my own domain is added in the namservers on the IP's I get
