I was reading the Washington Post oped page, as I do every day, when I can across this cartoon from Ted Rall:

http://www.ucomics.com/tedrall/2003/04/07/

Notice, in the bottom right corner, there is mention of the domain Bush-B-Gon.com. I always like to check out domain information ('cause I am weird like that, I guess). I checked this out and low-and-behold, it is not registered.

So, of course...I, well, you know :D.

I don't really have any intention of doing anything with it, and I don't want to sell it or anything...I guess I just kind of blew $6.95. But I find it odd, that the domain would be mentioned, when it did not exist.

you never know when it may be needed, and you could profit from it ;)

What the hey... might as well redirect traffic (if any). Have you tracked hits on the domain?

Actually it's NOT good to include a domain name in that context if it really exists. When I write (and as a domain name guy, I very often include something like that), I usually check with the whois to see if that particularly domain has been registered or not. You can never tell: these days, people are registering crazy names like ... Bush-B-Gon.com! LOL! :D

lol, that's rather funny. Maybe I'm dense but I don't understand why they would have a domain like that at the bottom of the comic?

It could be that he was planing on starting an anti-Bush site, similar to Michael Moore, or it could be any one of a number of things. Its not the first time I have seen this. In 1999, some woman who had accused Clinton of having an affair (later disproved) was on Larry King and mentioned her website, saying it would be up the next day. The domain hadn't been registered yet, so I um...well, you know :D.

Good move, I would have redirected it to one of your sites, may have got some decent traffic. That's what you should do with the Bush-whatever.com

Yea, I know -- if the President finds out about this, there is no way in hell I am going to be hired to head his cybersecurity taskforce:

Watch out guys and gals :D

A new law was passed the other day making it illegal to register misleading domains with intent.

From the article:

Congress passed legislation today that would give jail time to online pornographers who deliberately mask their sites behind innocuous domain names.

Undoubtedly, this will have an impact on whitehouse.com
