View Full Version : Impulsive Domain Buying?

Years ago I couldnt understand how people could have tons and tons of unused domains. Now I have about 15, and only about 5 are used on a daily basis, the rest are great ideas I had that havent yet been developed. Years later I continue to renew some of the domains hoping to eventually work on the project, but they continue to sit there.

Anyone have the same problem? Ever buy domains on an impulse? Do you ever see good ones on those Deleted Domains lists that you just have to purchase?

Come on people, I cant be the only one that does this :)

I do the same thing! Only thing I do different is, I end up selling my unused domain!

I have half a dozen ideas that i came uyp with, registered various domains for them... but of course no time to develop them. So yeah, I have a good dozen or so of unused domains :(

I don't have as many that are unused but this is me all the way. I have some great ideas (or so I think) and just check for that perfect domain. I think I've only found one good domain on deleteddomains.com and since getting it, I've sold it. Hopefully the next person can do something with it that I couldn't. Funny that this is mentioned because I just got another domain yesterday on a project I want to work on. But even before buying the domain, I knew it was something that could take a great deal of time to develop. Very sad... :(

Well, I just had a lunch meeting on Wednesday with someone (a really nice guy) who actually owns 60,000+ (yes, 60k) domain names, it makes me feel much better for my "compulsive domain buying disorder". LOL! :D

That make me feel better as well, as I have 90 or so and most aren't being used. HostHideout.com is the first one that's actually been used for something even remotely productive (aside from a personal one I need to just take off the internet for its own good).

Hello Everybody. I am a domain-o-holic. I have been sober for 12 months now. :::clap:::clap:::clap:::

Thank you.

Over the last 6 months I've added another 150 domains to that 'expired list'. I had it BAD in the early days. I have finally completed my 12 step program and am slowly but surely dropping back to only 'in-use' domains.

Yea, I have been trying to unload some of the domains that I purchased on impulse, with little or no luck -- I need to get someone who does this professionally to handle it for me :).

Well, I haven't cracked 100 domain names yet, but its getting closer every week...

I've probably had about 150 of them.
I keep letting them lapse when their usefulness has ended.
I'm holding steady at about 20 right now. With about 60% of them going to good use.

Ever since I got an Enom account, registering domains became easy, just type and click!

I just impulsively bought 11 domains from timechange. I may even do something with them some day!

Darn eNom reseller system...search, click, register. *twich*

I have about 45 I think...most are being put to good use, or are redirecting to the 'better versions' of the domain name. Some I just plain need to sell off. Hopefully the economy will get a little better soon.

Maybe I should develop the domain name that I bought on impulse (Dotaholics.com) so you can all join me for group therapy :)

"nameslave, tell us how you feel at this moment." :D

Dotaholics.com ... LOL! I really like that. You could develop it into an on-line therapy site. :D

By the way, you may want to check out your signature ...

htt...domainstore.htm ;)

The question now is: how long have you been buying domains? :D

1 week = 70-105 domains
1 month = 300-465
1 year = 3,650-5,490

Ive got loads of domains, most either not in use at all or some where i made the site and got distracted and never got round to promoting the site.
